INTRODUCING OUR 2022/23 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS TEAM!
Congratulations and Good Luck to all the athletes who will represent Cranbourne at this weekend’s State Championships. This year we have a massive team who have progressed through to state – with a total of 89 athletes over 208 events.
Many brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends among this group, but whilst we are at Lakeside this weekend, wearing the White, Blue and Gold, We Are One Centre, We Are One Family – let’s all support one another this week and keep that Cranbourne Spirit High!!
Duty Roster
Similar to all events, all parents are required to undertake a parent duty.
All duties MUST be conducted by someone who is 18 years or older and you must have closed-toe shoes.
Again if you refuse to do your duty, without a valid reason, your child will risk being scratched from events – including events this weekend, Cranbourne Championship & Personal Best Day, Meteorite Gift and risk all future Region and State Event selections.

Families will be required to check in with Lisa at least one hour before your first event, the call rooms close 20mins before event time. If you do not check in with Lisa at the Cranbourne team area we will presume your athlete is not competing and will be scratched from their events.
Parking and Getting There
As you can imagine, the full Albert Park area is under construction with the building of the F1 Grand Prix Track, this will have a small impact on some of the parking and travelling around the area.
We suggest parking in one of the following areas

- Albert Park Drive – On-Street Parking
- Albert Park Yacht Club – Small car park behind the warm-up track
- Lakeside Car Park – large car park between gates 1 & 2

Hey GCR Registered Athletes,
We are finally here for the 2022/23 Track and Field Carnival.
Duty Roster
When signing up, one of the conditions is that you agree to perform Parent Duty. We have a lot of athletes entering so that means a lot of duties. It is imperative that we all turn up to their duty. We have spread everyone as far as we could. Please don’t let the centre down and more importantly our athletes.
If you fail to do your allocated duty you risk your child being Scratched from Future Region Events, Loss of Parent Points, and missing out on future State/Centre Events.
Parents on duty MUST wear closed-toe footwear for safety reasons. Parents are reminded why they on duty inside the track they must not be using their mobile phones, taking photos, or cheering for athletes – this will put athletes at risk of being DQ’d from the event.
All duties MUST be conducted by someone who is 18 years or older.
CLICK HERE FOR THE UPDATED DUTY ROSTER (there has been a few changes due to some scratchings and some parents taking on a key role – changes are in red)
We are still after helpers for the Canteen – please remember that ONLY canteen duty will count towards parent points, appointed duties in the roster above are a LAVIC entry requirement to the event.
CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR CANTEEN DUTY
Please remember EVERYONE you see at the event is a volunteer – who are all donating time to ensure the event runs. Some have spent hours/days/weeks just to have the event run, all as a volunteer.

LITTLE ATHLETICS VICTORIA UNIFORM GUIDELINES
CRANBOURNE’S APPROVED UNIFORM
Qualifying for the 2022/23 State Championships
The first-placed athlete per Region per event will automatically qualify for State Track & Field Championships. The rest of the field will be made up of the next best performances from across all Regions to complete the field of 24 athletes (16 athletes only in 800m events).
There are eligibility standards for High Jump and Walk events, that must be achieved to qualify, regardless of placing first at Region.
Athletes must have competed in and finished in the overall top 10 placing in the relevant event at the Region Track and Field Carnival, except for High Jump and Race Walks.
Walks and High Jump Progression Rules
Multi-Class athletes will be progressed based on their converted performance at the Region Track & Field Carnival, up to the maximum field size for each event. If there are insufficient entries, or if places and performances are equal, only clear progressions will be advanced, i.e., a field may be less than the allowed maximum field size
For example
All events other than 800m, Walk and High Jump.
24 Athletes will go through to state
7 of these will be the automatic qualifier, the winner from each region
The remaining 17 athletes will be the next best times from all the region carnivals
800m
16 Athletes will go through to state
7 of these will be the automatic qualifier, the winner from each region
The remaining 9 athletes will be the next best times from all the region carnivals
Medal Presentations
Athletes who finish in the TOP 3, overall, will be awarded a medal for their efforts – there are no place ribbons at the regional carnivals. All track events with more than 1 timed final – the medals will go to the three fastest overall.
Medal engraving will be available on the day – the cost for CRANBOURNE ATHLETES is $3 per medal ($5 for other centres)
Cranbourne athletes will be required to leave their medals with the engravers and be picked up the following week. The engraver will also be available over the next few weeks at our normal weekly competitions.
Event Clashes
Clashes between track and field events will be handled by the region and centre team manager, there is no need for parent interference with these. As per normal Track Events take precedence over Field Events and we will not hold events for Athletes at the Presentation area.
Medals are not going anywhere they will still be there after their event.
Scratchings
If you need to scratch your athlete for any reason, please call our team manager Lisa to let her know – 0412 977 939
Additional Information
Lane Draws/Meet Program (Timed Finals are not seeded for Region – they are a random draw. State Time Finals will be seeded on athlete’s region times)
If anyone needs any additional information please contact the centre via FB messenger or give Lisa a call 0412 977 939.
Please Note: As this event is run by the Gippsland Country Region – personal bests and Cranbourne Records will not count. Parent points will also not be included for appointed parent duties, this is an entry requirement. Parent Points will be handed out for Canteen Duties.
GO CRANBOURNE!!!
Congratulations and Good Luck to all our athletes that have qualified for this weekend’s State Championships.
WE ASK ALL ATHLETES TO ARRIVE AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE THEIR FIRST EVENT!!! If you are running late you MUST contact Lisa, do not message or email as these won’t be checked all day. As shown in the timetable below, the call room closes 30 minutes BEFORE each event – if teams are not in the call room by then they will not be able to run!
What to do once you arrive?
Athlete Check In
This year we are introducing an ATHLETE CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT sheet. All athletes MUST sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave, even if they are just leaving in between events. This is a new child-safe guideline, as well as a way for our team managers to know who is around.
If an athlete has not checked in before their event, they will be scratched and replaced.
Where to go?
Once you arrive at Lakeside Stadium, we will be set up in our usual spot on the back straight near the 1500m start. Cranbourne is known for making lots of noise and cheering on each athlete, so let’s keep that up and support each other as much as possible!
Duty Roster
As per entry conditions, all families may be required to perform a duty.
CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL PARENT DUTIES
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOUR NAME ISNT IS ON THE ABOVE SHEET, YOU MAY STILL BE ASKED TO PERFORM A DUTY.
For those that are rostered on for duty, we will ensure to look after you with minimal duties are future region/state events.
If you do not show up for your duty, your child will be scratched and replaced for all other relay teams. You will also put your spot in danger for all future Region/State events, future Cranbourne events, and Cranbourne season awards.
Uniform
Please ensure all Athletes have the full Cranbourne uniform – if you do not have the full uniform your child will not be allowed to compete – this is a LAVIC Rule and Condition of entry!

[table “40” not found /]We have now officially moved past the halfway mark of our Track and Field season.
Just a quick Chronicle Update this month with a few reminders.
There will be a few extra emails going out over the next few weeks with Parent Point Updates, Region and State Updates, Meteorite Gift and Championship/Personal Best Day.
Pakenham vs Cranbourne Shield
Last Saturday was, once again, a great day out at Pakenham for the Annual Cranbourne vs Pakenham Cup. This event started in the early ’90s when two small country centre committees thought it would be a great idea for the athletes to make friends and have some friendly rivalries.
We won the cup, again, with all our athletes putting in some of their best performances.
This is the last year we will meet at this track for Pakenham before they move to a brand-new synthetic track down the road.
2023/24 Committee Nominations

Hosting 2022/23 GCR Track and Field Carnival
(Extra Assistance Required)
This year we ar HOSTING the 2022/23 GCR Track and Field Carnival at Casey Fields. This of course means we will be requiring extra duties to help run the Canteen and BBQ for the weekend. These duties will be on top of the normal GCR allocated, on field duties.
In the next few weeks we will release a sign up sheet for those to help over the Region weekend, these duties will grant BONUS PARENT POINTS for all who help.
Days like this are a major fundraiser for our centre which helps keeps our fee’s down, and all profit goes back into the centre to help the athletes. The more help we get around the Canteen and BBQ the better it is for our centre, and the better it is for your family.
Entries for GCR Coles Track & Field Carnival – U9+ (Feb 18th-19th)
The entries for Region Track and Field for the U9+ athletes are closing soon!
All athletes in these age groups would have received an email from LAVic with further details on how and where to register.
Please remember this is a SATURDAY & SUNDAY event, and this year we are hosting it at Casey Fields.
If you have any questions please see one of the committee members, send us an email or a message via messenger and we will be able to assist.
Please remember this is the qualifying for the State Track and Field Championships.
Also please note, when registering you must agree that you understand as a condition of entering my child in the Region Carnival and State Championships (if qualifies), it is a requirement that I will be available to perform a rostered duty representing my Centre as required – this applies to ALL athletes, whether you are doing 1 or 5 events. If parents are scheduled for duties and do not show up, your athlete will be scratched from all future events, including the state championship, if they qualify.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON THE PAGE BEFORE REGISTERING – YOU WILL NEED YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD TO REGISTER, PLEASE REFER TO THE LAVIC EMAIL FOR THOSE DETAILS. THE FULL EVENT TIMETABLE WILL NOT BE MADE AVAILABLE UNTIL AFTER THE ENTRIES HAVE CLOSED.

Uniform Requirements
Would you turn up to your weekly footy or netball game and be allowed to play in Tracksuit pants or wear a different color shirt?
Would you turn up to your soccer or basketball game and be allowed to play in your hoody or wear logos of another team?
Would you perform a dance competition wearing your warm-up top?
Little Athletics is no different – The FULL Centre uniform must be worn when competing at all Centre Programs. White Cranbourne competition shirt, PLAIN royal blue shorts, Your Commonwealth Bank Name Patch pinned on, and the sewn-on Coles Patch all form part of your uniform.
The uniform can be purchased from our uniform shop on a Saturday morning or via our online store
There are only 3 reasons not to be in the correct uniform:
1. You are a trial athlete.
2. We have run out of your size (we now have a full size run in all items)
3. We have a special dress-up-themed week (Pinkletics, Coles Community Day etc..).
If you forget your name tag, you can purchase a new one for $5 – after this week we will no longer have Temp Tags.
If you are not in the correct uniform, your results will not be recorded and any photos will not be uploaded.
8am Program Starts
Please remember we start from 8am. The committee has been coming up with ideas on how we can get through the program quicker each and every week. One thing that does extend the program out, is athletes turning up late.
If you are late and your age group is already at an event please make sure you are aware of the following:
– 1st Event is a Track Event
If the age group has already completed the event, they will not be permitted to run with another age group or gender. If they are in marshaling/waiting at the start line, the athlete will be able to join in.
– 1st Event is Long/Triple Jump or a Throwing Event.
Athletes will join into the round they are up. If every athlete has already completed two attempts, the late athlete will only get one attempt. No Practice throws/jumps and No Time to mark run ups etc.
– 1st Event is High Jump
The athlete will be able to join in at the current height when they arrive.
When it comes time for another event if parent helpers notice an athlete is missing please notify one of the committee members with a radio and we will organize to have the athlete called to the event. If they are called to the event and are still late the same rules as above will apply.
Lost Property
Our Lost Property collection is growing at a rapid rate.
Please remember to label all clothing and drink bottles so we can try and return them to athletes.
Once items have been in Lost Property for 4-6 weeks the items will be donated to a local charity
Social Media and Communication
Make sure you have liked us on Facebook and followed our Instagram for further updates, pictures, etc… Last Season we won the LAVic Marketing Award for our Social Media presence so be sure to jump on and like our page.
Our weekly photos will again be uploaded straight to our Facebook page! We will aim to have them up within 2-3 Days of the Saturday Competition.

November already, and where has the year gone!! 8 Weeks completed of our busy season!
This season has certainly had a massive start with our high number of registered athletes and throw-in the Melbourne Weather – but we are finally getting back to a normal season.
To put this year into perspective, last year at the end of Cross Country we had 366 members registered and we are already up to 470 registered athletes for the 2022/23 season.
We want to thank everyone for their patience as this has certainly been a learning curve for the committee as we adjust to the large numbers.
With higher numbers certainly comes our need for extra helping hands around the place, so please make sure you are signing up for duty on the weekly sign-up sheets, these are posted in the weekly event via Facebook and TeamApp.
Furthermore, we are always looking for fresh faces on the committee. If you would like to join the committee please contact Katrina via email cranbourne@lavic.com.au
Parent Helpers Requirements
As mentioned above, with our higher numbers we require more parent helpers each and every week. We do not want to get to the stage where we don’t have events or fundraising (canteen etc..) running due to the lack of helpers.
The link for parent helpers is put in the events each week on Social Media and TeamApp.
When you register, one of the waivers you agree to is that you agree to perform parent duties throughout the year. One thing we do at Cranbourne Little Athletics is have a parent points system – which effects your athlete’s end-of-season awards. More information on parent points can be found on the link below. A parent point update will be sent out in the next few weeks.
Coles Community Round
Thank you to all those that dressed up in red or Coles-themed outfits on the weekend! Once again, another great fun day to celebrate the ongoing partnership between Coles and Little Athletics Australia.

For those in the U6-U8 age groups, the Gippsland Country Region is the only region that runs a mini U6-U8 carnival. This will run on the Saturday Morning of the Region T&F Carnival.
More information will be available soon about the Junior Carnival.

State Combined Events Championships
On the 12th and 13th of November, we had 76 athletes sign up to compete at the 2022/23 State Combined Events Championship – the most of any centre in Victoria.
This was also our most successful Combined Events Championships with 5 medalists for the weekend. Delcan Maling and Gregory Roshi both winning gold medals. For those wondering, Declan and Gregory become only the 2nd and 3rd athletes to win GOLD at the Combined Events. The only other winner was Brad Jury, back in the 1994/95 Season.
Whilst the medals are great, what was even better was seeing all the smiles, all the fun, the PBs, the new friends, and the Cranbourne Spirit.

Lost Property
Our Lost Property collection is growing at a rapid rate.
Please remember to label all clothing and drink bottles so we can try and return them to athletes.
Once items have been in Lost Property for 4-6 weeks the items will be donated to a local charity
Social Media
Make sure you have liked us on Facebook and followed our Instagram for further updates, pictures, etc… Last Season we won the LAVic Marketing Award for our Social Media presence so be sure to jump on and like our page.
Our weekly photos will again be uploaded straight to our Facebook page! We will aim to have them up within 2-3 Days of the Saturday Competition.
