Thank you all for registering your child for this weekend’s State Combined Event Championships. This event is a great way to meet lifelong friends from other centers, as well as make friends with some other Cranbourne athletes from other age groups.

Duty Roster

When signing up, one of the conditions is that you agree to perform Parent Duty. Every athlete will be required to perform a parent duty.
All duties MUST be conducted by someone who is 21 years or older. Please check the roster below

CLICK HERE TO VIEW STATE COMBINED PARENT DUTY ROSTER

We have tried to make the duties as fair as possible. This year, once again, we have the BIGGEST team competing at the State Combined Events, by over 20 athletes, which means we have the most duties. Duties are done by athlete and day, unfortunately with the amount of duties we have, some athletes competing on both days will have double duty.

Failure to attend to your duty will result in your child being scratched for all subsequent events on that day. Moreover, you risk jeopardizing your standing for future Region/State events, upcoming Cranbourne functions, and Cranbourne season awards.

Uniform

All athletes must be wearing the complete Cranbourne uniform. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in your child being ineligible to participate—this adheres to both LAVIC rules and the conditions of entry.

Our Uniform Consists of:

  • Royal Blue Shorts with NO Pockets, Patterns, or Non-approved logos (e.g., Nike, Adidas, etc…)
  • Cranbourne Competition Top
  • Coles patch SEWN on, above the LAVic logo on the athlete’s shirt.
  • 2023/24 Commonwealth Bank name patch.

Please see the file below on all uniform regulations including the wearing of undergarments (shirts and shorts under your uniform)

LAVIC UNIFORM BOOKLET

What to do once you arrive at Lakeside?

Parking

For the most convenient parking, we recommend Albert Road or Albert Road Drive. Ample parking is available in the vicinity, with early arrival ensuring better parking options. Please allow for additional time for parking.

Please note: there will be several other events on over the weekend so parking space may be limited. Please arrive early!!

Where to go?

Upon reaching Lakeside Stadium, locate us in our usual spot on the back straight near the 1500m start. Access through gate 1 is recommended for ease of entry. Cranbourne is renowned for its spirited support, so let’s maintain the tradition of making noise and cheering for each athlete.

CLICK HERE FOR MAP OF WHERE WE SIT

Athlete Check In

Every athlete is required to sign in with our Team Managers upon arrival and sign out before leaving, even during breaks between events. This adherence to a new child-safe guideline not only ensures safety but also aids our team managers in tracking athlete presence. Athletes who haven’t checked in at the designated Cranbourne area before their first event the athlete will be scratched.

Food Options

We strongly advise families to bring their lunch, beverages, and snacks, as the food choices at Lakeside Stadium are quite limited.

What to do before and after your event?

Warming Up

For the State Combined event, athletes will need to warm themselves up for each event. If any athlete would like advice on how to warm up properly, please see one of the coaches on Wednesday at Training.

Going to the call room

A Track call room, located near the 100m start line, will be used for all Track events. When called to marshal for any track event, all athletes are to report to the Track call room, and they will be escorted from there to the start of their race.

Field events will not use a call room but will marshal at one of three Field Marshalling points:

  • All Long Jump events will marshal on the outside of the track along the back straight.
  • Shot Put and Javelin events will marshal just inside Gate 1 near the Canteen.
  • Discus and High Jump events will marshal outside the track near the 1500m start
    point.

All athletes must be at their relevant call room/marshaling point 30 minutes before their first
event of each day. For subsequent events throughout the day, an announcement will be
made when each Age Group and Group is to report to the call room/marshaling points.

The timetable is only an indication of the times for each event. It is essential that athletes
and parents are listening for all announcements relating to their events.

Athletes are not to run across the track or jump the fence. Located around the track are
gates, and officials at each Gate will manage the athletes entering the track area.

In between events

During breaks, we suggest that you hang around the Cranbourne area or support other Cranbourne Athletes. Please note: if you miss an event from not sitting in the Cranbourne area – that is on you!

Live Stream

Like all LAVic State Events, this event will have a limited free stream available. All track events and limited field events will be live-streamed.

Refer to the timetable below for event details; note that the call room closes 30 minutes before each event. Teams not present in the call room by then risk disqualification for the entire team.

Warming Up

Our coaches will be around to take teams for a quick warm-up before heading to the call room, this will take place roughly 50 minutes before the event

Going to the call room

Athletes must be escorted to the call room by a Team Manager or a designated individual as per the team managers’ instructions. The entire team will proceed to the call room collectively, typically 30-40 minutes before the event starts.

After your athlete has ran

After completing their race, athletes will have to exit the arena through the nearest gate. For instance, the second runner in a 4×100 relay should use the gate at the change-over box.
Running on the infield will result in an automatic disqualification for the team.
The top three finishers will be called to the presentation area for the medal ceremony roughly 20-30minutes after the event.

In between events

During breaks, athletes can either stay around the track to support other Cranbourne Teams or leave the arena. However, the same rule applies: return at least an hour before your next event. Time tends to pass swiftly during these events.

Hey GCR Registered Athletes,

We are finally here for the 2022/23 Track and Field Carnival.

Duty Roster

When signing up, one of the conditions is that you agree to perform Parent Duty. We have a lot of athletes entering so that means a lot of duties. It is imperative that we all turn up to their duty. We have spread everyone as far as we could. Please don’t let the centre down and more importantly our athletes.
If you fail to do your allocated duty you risk your child being Scratched from Future Region Events, Loss of Parent Points, and missing out on future State/Centre Events.

Parents on duty MUST wear closed-toe footwear for safety reasons. Parents are reminded why they on duty inside the track they must not be using their mobile phones, taking photos, or cheering for athletes – this will put athletes at risk of being DQ’d from the event.
All duties MUST be conducted by someone who is 18 years or older.

CLICK HERE FOR THE UPDATED DUTY ROSTER (there has been a few changes due to some scratchings and some parents taking on a key role – changes are in red)

We are still after helpers for the Canteen – please remember that ONLY canteen duty will count towards parent points, appointed duties in the roster above are a LAVIC entry requirement to the event.

LITTLE ATHLETICS VICTORIA UNIFORM GUIDELINES
CRANBOURNE’S APPROVED UNIFORM

Qualifying for the 2022/23 State Championships

The first-placed athlete per Region per event will automatically qualify for State Track & Field Championships. The rest of the field will be made up of the next best performances from across all Regions to complete the field of 24 athletes (16 athletes only in 800m events).

There are eligibility standards for High Jump and Walk events, that must be achieved to qualify, regardless of placing first at Region.

Athletes must have competed in and finished in the overall top 10 placing in the relevant event at the Region Track and Field Carnival, except for High Jump and Race Walks.
Walks and High Jump Progression Rules

Multi-Class athletes will be progressed based on their converted performance at the Region Track & Field Carnival, up to the maximum field size for each event. If there are insufficient entries, or if places and performances are equal, only clear progressions will be advanced, i.e., a field may be less than the allowed maximum field size

For example
All events other than 800m, Walk and High Jump.
24 Athletes will go through to state
7 of these will be the automatic qualifier, the winner from each region
The remaining 17 athletes will be the next best times from all the region carnivals

800m
16 Athletes will go through to state
7 of these will be the automatic qualifier, the winner from each region
The remaining 9 athletes will be the next best times from all the region carnivals

Medal Presentations

Athletes who finish in the TOP 3, overall, will be awarded a medal for their efforts – there are no place ribbons at the regional carnivals. All track events with more than 1 timed final – the medals will go to the three fastest overall.

Medal engraving will be available on the day – the cost for CRANBOURNE ATHLETES is $3 per medal ($5 for other centres)
Cranbourne athletes will be required to leave their medals with the engravers and be picked up the following week. The engraver will also be available over the next few weeks at our normal weekly competitions.

Event Clashes

Clashes between track and field events will be handled by the region and centre team manager, there is no need for parent interference with these. As per normal Track Events take precedence over Field Events and we will not hold events for Athletes at the Presentation area.
Medals are not going anywhere they will still be there after their event.

Friday, 20 January 2023 / Published in State Information

Congratulations and Good Luck to all our athletes that have qualified for this weekend’s State Championships.

WE ASK ALL ATHLETES TO ARRIVE AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE THEIR FIRST EVENT!!! If you are running late you MUST contact Lisa, do not message or email as these won’t be checked all day. As shown in the timetable below, the call room closes 30 minutes BEFORE each event – if teams are not in the call room by then they will not be able to run!

What to do once you arrive?

Athlete Check In

This year we are introducing an ATHLETE CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT sheet. All athletes MUST sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave, even if they are just leaving in between events. This is a new child-safe guideline, as well as a way for our team managers to know who is around.

If an athlete has not checked in before their event, they will be scratched and replaced.

Where to go?

Once you arrive at Lakeside Stadium, we will be set up in our usual spot on the back straight near the 1500m start. Cranbourne is known for making lots of noise and cheering on each athlete, so let’s keep that up and support each other as much as possible!

Progression to Commonwealth Bank State Relays Championships

The Commonwealth Bank Region Relays Carnivals are the sole qualification method for teams wishing to compete at the Commonwealth Bank State Relays Championships. No direct entries are accepted for the State Relays Championships.

For all events in each of the U9 to U17 age groups, the winning team at each Regional Carnival will qualify for the State Championships with the remaining available places allocated to the next fastest teams regardless of Region.

The number of teams qualifying for each event will be as follows

• 4 x 100m (U9-U15) – 7 Region Winners + next 17 fastest teams (24 in total)

• 4 x 100m (U16-U17) – 7 Region Winners + next 9 fastest teams (16 in total)

• 4 x 200m (U9-U17) – 7 Region Winners + next 9 fastest teams (16 in total)

• Swedish Medley (U9-U17) – 7 Region Winners + next 9 fastest teams (16 in total)

For Multi-Class Relays, the fastest 16 converted times (using Baseline Tables) for each Age Group Type (U9-U10, U11-U12 & U13-U17) in each event (MT 4 x 100m and MT 4 x 200m) will qualify for the State Championships.

All events at both the Region and State Relays are Timed Finals / finals only and seeding at State Championships is based on performance at Region Relays Carnivals.

Please note: there will be no costs to progress through to state relays – there will be a LAVIC state relay shirt you are able to purchase before the event.

Parents Race

Through the Lunch Break, there will be a Parent’s Race! We would love to have some Cranbourne Teams – it’s a fun event and the kids love seeing the parents run!
