Training & Coaching

From the 2020-21 season CLAC will provide coaching on either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday afternoons only at Casey Fields Athletics track.  Training runs between 4:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  For the young children’s wellbeing, we recommend against U6 to U8’s doing two sessions of training.

The desire of each athlete to do their best consists of their willingness to learn whilst having fun and improving fundamental skills in all facets of track and field, whether that be walking, running, jumping, or throwing.  It is the intention of the 2021 – 2022 coaching staff to always provide a safe environment for all athletes.  The CLAC coaching team brings an abundance of enthusiasm and passion to the forefront this year and we believe that our coaching, together with their individual accreditations, education and mentoring can provide the tools for the athletes to focus on effort.

One of the fundamental principles that the coaching team aspire to, is to provide an opportunity for children to feel great about themselves, where we will encourage and assist the athlete to be rewarded by achievement, all whilst having fun and showing great sportsmanship.  We want the athlete to enjoy their experience at CLAC as this will promote the athlete to come back the following season.

All coaching will be advertised on the CLAC socials – it will appear there in the calendar.  Registration for training will be online through CLAC social media.  Only athletes who register will be allowed to attend the training.  Athletes who attend on the day without registering can only participate in sessions that are not already fully booked.

All CLAC coaches are accredited through Athletics Australia or are experienced athletes who are in the process of obtaining accreditation.
