State Championships Review

Whilst we celebrate medals, we are proud of all 68 athletes that qualified for the state championships this weekend. You have qualified in the top 24 athletes in the state – that itself is something to be proud of!

Every single athlete got out there and tried their best, that’s all we can ask for. A lot of PBs, A lot of smiles and best of all lots of cheering. Whilst some kids may be disappointed with their performances, our centre is proud of the way you all conducted yourself this weekend!

Nearly every event had another athlete cheering them on and wishing them good luck. The younger siblings that get dragged along were all on their best behaviour and got involved in the cheering.

Special Thanks to
– Adam and Dean for being there all weekend warming up our athletes
– Kelly and the coaching team for getting the kids ready in the lead-up
– Parents that did their duties, and especially the parents that covered for those that avoid doing their part

Ribbons for the Top 8 as well as performance cards will be handed out over the next few weeks and at Presentation Day.

Please note: as the email that was sent out earlier tonight, there has been a positive COVID case in the Cranbourne Team. If you are showing symptoms please get tested.

Thanks,
Paul Freestone & Andrew Pryn

Our annual Personal Best & Championship Day is here this Saturday!

Please Note: If athletes haven’t pre-registered for this event, they are illegible to compete this weekend!!

Parent Duty

Parent Duty for this event is completely different from a normal week! Parent duty is broken up by events and time blocks.
This week it is highly important that we fill ALL spots. If we cannot get enough helpers at an event or at the finish line etc, it will result in the day going a lot longer!

Presentation slips are to be completed and sent to the presentation area and the results sheets are to be placed in results entry basket inside the timekeeper’s room. Make sure age groups compete together eg don’t do 12 B then 12 G. But places awarded per age group.

If we don’t get enough helpers events WILL be cancelled!

If an event is a mixed age group and you have signed up, you must assist for the FULL-time block, not just one age group.

Parents are more than welcome to sign up for multiple time blocks, as long as they do not clash!

When registering you agreed to do a duty! Failure to do duty will result in your child being illegible for medals/trophies and possible scratchings from further events – including events for the 2022/23 season.

No Age group team Managers on the day and trolleys will be staying at the events please leave the folders in the trolleys.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR PARENT DUTY

Marshalling Area

Children will be called to the marshalling area, marquees near the 100m start, and MUST have their names ticked off before going to an event.

Entering the Arena and Arena Rules

NO PARENT OR ATHLETE will be allowed to enter the arena without going through marshalling or being at an event for duty.

NO PARENT/SIBLING/ATHLETE is to run along side an athlete

NO PARENT is to be cheering on the inside of the track, this will result in children being disqualified – this is actually an official Little Athletics Australia Rule.

Presentation Area

For this special week medals and ribbons are given out for all events. We do require some helpers for this area throughout the day – you can sign up using the parent duty sign up.

Program of Events

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PROGRAM OF EVENTS

The first event is from 8 am!!

Please remember this program has taken numerous hours to prepare and is set up this way to have minimal event clashes.

If your child does have event clashes, the marshalling assistant will be able to assist with this when marshalling – they will not miss an event.

If an area is free, you CANNOT just jump in and do your event – if this happens the event will be scratched from the program.

Presidents Welcome

In a year like no other, we have experienced the Committee and I would like to officially welcome you to the 2021/2022 Little Athletics season.

The aim of this season is to have fun, especially after the tough few seasons we have had.

I would like to officially acknowledge and thank the committee for their ongoing work during the offseason and the amount of work to already start this season. The effort and resilience in a time of so much upheaval and uncertainly, has helped put our club in a strong position to continue the success we have enjoyed in the past.

You would have noticed a few changes in the off-season new merchandise for example and there are a few things we will still need to work through; however, I am extremely confident in the abilities of the committee and all those helping behind the scenes to continue working together and making things happen.

The pandemic has continued to create extra processes for our club to adhere to in order for it to run successfully and COVID free.  Sharing the load is more important than ever, and we are strongly encouraging a high level of involvement this year to help with these additional processes.

I encourage our returning and new members to help on event days as often as possible. Remember if we are in the stands we want everyone to get yelling and cheer the athletes on the track!

Athletics season is a great time of year so once again, welcome to the new season and let’s make it a fun, successful and enjoyable one together!

Go team Cranbourne!

Holger Philipp – CLAC President

Week 4 Notes

This week we are onto Program C, which will see the hurdles on the track for the first time!

START TIMES FOR WEEK 4 (Saturday 4th December)

8.00am Under 8 Boys
8.00am Under 10 Boys
8.00am Under 11 Girls
8.00am U14-16 Boys and Girls
8.30am All other Age Groups

This weeks program may run a little longer as we are still awaiting the return of our Back Straight Timing Gates, so please be patient we will try and move along as quickly as we can.

CHANGES TO ATHLETES BEING CALLED TO AN EVENT

From this week we will be reintroducing a MARSHALLING AREA!
There will be marquees up behind the 100m start line (as shown in the photo below).

We have decided to do this as we have had a few incidents with having too many people inside the arena.

How will this change?
Your athlete’s age group will be called to the MARSHALLING AREA, then the Age Group leader will lead the athletes onto the track to their event. Athletes will no longer go straight to their event and will not be allowed to enter the arena unless they have been marshalled and called to an event.

From this Saturday, you may only enter the arena if;

  • You are wearing a vest and are helping at an event
  • You are a committee member, or asked by a committee member, performing your assigned tasks
  • You are an athlete at an event after marshalling

Athletes and Parents MUST NOT

  • Be inside the fence line cheering on athletes. All events are viewable from the other side of the fence.
  • Running alongside the athletes doing an event (unless a committee member has asked you to assist)
  • Cross across the middle of the track, ALWAYS use the outside
  • Enter the finish line timing area

We understand there are extreme circumstances, however, we don’t need 15 parents following one age group around. If you want to follow your athlete around, you need to sign up for duty. If you have any questions you can speak to any committee members on competition days, send us a message on Facebook or email the centre – cranbourne@lavic.com.au

Parent Duty

Just a reminder that every week we require parent helpers to help make the program run.

Each week our parent duty sign up is posted onto our Facebook Page, TeamApp and Centre Website.

Each duty is allocated a certain amount of points, your family needs to earn points for your children to obtain a trophy at the end of the season.

Congratulations to Kevin, Illara, Ethan, Ben and Declan on being selected in the LAVic Junior Development Squad.

The Junior Development Squad (JDS) gives U12 – U16 athletes an opportunity to develop additional skills and improve technical competencies through participation in coaching and training sessions with some of Victoria’s leading coaches. Training with other keen and enthusiastic squad members is both fun and motivational and helps develop new friendships based on an enjoyment of athletics. Season 2021/22 begins this SATURDAY!

After weeks of uncertainty, we are so excited to be “Back To The Track” this Saturday!

Our first events will kick off at 8am with the U13-U16 300/200m Hurdles!
All other athlete events will start at 8.30am.
We do ask that you arrive EARLY, to allow time to check in and join our warm ups!

2021 Presidents Welcome

Welcome all,

With a sense on Déjà vu from the previous season, I would like to officially welcome everyone to our belated start to this season.

Once again we will have to navigate things slightly differently to what we are accustomed to, and once again we won’t have all the answers right way and will need to work through; however, I am extremely confident in the abilities of the committee and all those helping behind the scenes to continue working together and making things happen.

A huge thank you to the committee for their ongoing work during the off season. The effort and resilience in a time of so much upheaval and uncertainly, has once again put our club in a strong position to continue the success we have enjoyed in the past.

Amongst the continued changes in the off season, we have still been able to make some significant changes in the off season the most notable our uniforms. Not only do the new uniforms look great, but the way we order and how you are able to access them this season will be easier and more efficient.

We have continued to work hard on establishing relationships and our partnership model with local business as well as some nationally recognised names continues to grow from strength to strength and keep our finances healthy.

Please, if you or someone you know has a local business that would like exposure to our 300+ families, friends and the community around Casey Council and beyond please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the club.

The pandemic has created extra processes our club needs to adhere to in order for it to run successfully and COVID free.  Sharing the load is more important than ever this year and we are strongly encouraging a high level of involvement this year to help with these additional processes. I encourage our returning and new members to help on event days as often as possible.

Finally, don’t hesitate to reach out to family and friends, share our Facebook, Insta and other social media posts to let them know what a great and resilient club we are. New members are always welcome!

Athletics season is a great time of year so once again, welcome to the new season and let’s make it a fun, successful and enjoyable one together!

Go team Cranbourne!

Holger Philipp – Centre President

Parent Duty Sign Up

SIGN UP NOW FOR DUTY THIS WEEK: https://bit.ly/CLACSIGNUP

Typically, to conduct a Track and Field competition on a weekly basis, CLAC requires between 60-70 parents in a volunteer role.

The rationale behind why we require parents and/or guardians to obtain parent duty points is as simple as, CLAC likes to encourage parents and/or guardians to participate at their child or children’s field events.  Without the parent’s (volunteers) assistance, the meeting simply cannot go ahead.

The other reason being is to ensure that your child receives an award at presentation, CLAC has implemented a points system whereby the parents or guardians are required to fulfill throughout the summer season to enable your child to get an award at the end of the year.
