Presidents Welcome

In a year like no other, we have experienced the Committee and I would like to officially welcome you to the 2021/2022 Little Athletics season.

The aim of this season is to have fun, especially after the tough few seasons we have had.

I would like to officially acknowledge and thank the committee for their ongoing work during the offseason and the amount of work to already start this season. The effort and resilience in a time of so much upheaval and uncertainly, has helped put our club in a strong position to continue the success we have enjoyed in the past.

You would have noticed a few changes in the off-season new merchandise for example and there are a few things we will still need to work through; however, I am extremely confident in the abilities of the committee and all those helping behind the scenes to continue working together and making things happen.

The pandemic has continued to create extra processes for our club to adhere to in order for it to run successfully and COVID free.  Sharing the load is more important than ever, and we are strongly encouraging a high level of involvement this year to help with these additional processes.

I encourage our returning and new members to help on event days as often as possible. Remember if we are in the stands we want everyone to get yelling and cheer the athletes on the track!

Athletics season is a great time of year so once again, welcome to the new season and let’s make it a fun, successful and enjoyable one together!

Go team Cranbourne!

Holger Philipp – CLAC President

Week 4 Notes

This week we are onto Program C, which will see the hurdles on the track for the first time!

START TIMES FOR WEEK 4 (Saturday 4th December)

8.00am Under 8 Boys
8.00am Under 10 Boys
8.00am Under 11 Girls
8.00am U14-16 Boys and Girls
8.30am All other Age Groups

This weeks program may run a little longer as we are still awaiting the return of our Back Straight Timing Gates, so please be patient we will try and move along as quickly as we can.

CHANGES TO ATHLETES BEING CALLED TO AN EVENT

From this week we will be reintroducing a MARSHALLING AREA!
There will be marquees up behind the 100m start line (as shown in the photo below).

We have decided to do this as we have had a few incidents with having too many people inside the arena.

How will this change?
Your athlete’s age group will be called to the MARSHALLING AREA, then the Age Group leader will lead the athletes onto the track to their event. Athletes will no longer go straight to their event and will not be allowed to enter the arena unless they have been marshalled and called to an event.

From this Saturday, you may only enter the arena if;

  • You are wearing a vest and are helping at an event
  • You are a committee member, or asked by a committee member, performing your assigned tasks
  • You are an athlete at an event after marshalling

Athletes and Parents MUST NOT

  • Be inside the fence line cheering on athletes. All events are viewable from the other side of the fence.
  • Running alongside the athletes doing an event (unless a committee member has asked you to assist)
  • Cross across the middle of the track, ALWAYS use the outside
  • Enter the finish line timing area

We understand there are extreme circumstances, however, we don’t need 15 parents following one age group around. If you want to follow your athlete around, you need to sign up for duty. If you have any questions you can speak to any committee members on competition days, send us a message on Facebook or email the centre – cranbourne@lavic.com.au

Parent Duty

Just a reminder that every week we require parent helpers to help make the program run.

Each week our parent duty sign up is posted onto our Facebook Page, TeamApp and Centre Website.

Each duty is allocated a certain amount of points, your family needs to earn points for your children to obtain a trophy at the end of the season.

All registered athletes MUST be wearing THIS YEARS registration tag and also be in FULL uniform.

Last year’s registration tags do not scan and will slow down the electronic timing system. Athletes must also be in full uniform, this includes our centre shirt and royal blue shorts. Black, tan or royal blue bike shorts are allowed under uniform shorts. Athletes are not permitted to compete in jumpers or hoodies.

2021 Presidents Welcome

Welcome all,

With a sense on Déjà vu from the previous season, I would like to officially welcome everyone to our belated start to this season.

Once again we will have to navigate things slightly differently to what we are accustomed to, and once again we won’t have all the answers right way and will need to work through; however, I am extremely confident in the abilities of the committee and all those helping behind the scenes to continue working together and making things happen.

A huge thank you to the committee for their ongoing work during the off season. The effort and resilience in a time of so much upheaval and uncertainly, has once again put our club in a strong position to continue the success we have enjoyed in the past.

Amongst the continued changes in the off season, we have still been able to make some significant changes in the off season the most notable our uniforms. Not only do the new uniforms look great, but the way we order and how you are able to access them this season will be easier and more efficient.

We have continued to work hard on establishing relationships and our partnership model with local business as well as some nationally recognised names continues to grow from strength to strength and keep our finances healthy.

Please, if you or someone you know has a local business that would like exposure to our 300+ families, friends and the community around Casey Council and beyond please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the club.

The pandemic has created extra processes our club needs to adhere to in order for it to run successfully and COVID free.  Sharing the load is more important than ever this year and we are strongly encouraging a high level of involvement this year to help with these additional processes. I encourage our returning and new members to help on event days as often as possible.

Finally, don’t hesitate to reach out to family and friends, share our Facebook, Insta and other social media posts to let them know what a great and resilient club we are. New members are always welcome!

Athletics season is a great time of year so once again, welcome to the new season and let’s make it a fun, successful and enjoyable one together!

Go team Cranbourne!

Parent Duty Sign Up

SIGN UP NOW FOR DUTY THIS WEEK: https://bit.ly/CLACSIGNUP

Typically, to conduct a Track and Field competition on a weekly basis, CLAC requires between 60-70 parents in a volunteer role.

The rationale behind why we require parents and/or guardians to obtain parent duty points is as simple as, CLAC likes to encourage parents and/or guardians to participate at their child or children’s field events.  Without the parent’s (volunteers) assistance, the meeting simply cannot go ahead.

The other reason being is to ensure that your child receives an award at presentation, CLAC has implemented a points system whereby the parents or guardians are required to fulfill throughout the summer season to enable your child to get an award at the end of the year.

We again have a large number of new and trial athletes for this weekend!

Cranbourne members,

Not long now until we venture down to Cruden Farm for State Cross Country relays.

Each relay team consists of three runners and all runners must be of the same gender and ideally from the same age group so that we don’t have to promote runners up an age group or create a Gippsland Country Region (GCR) team.

To balance the teams out in multiples of three we require additional runners for the following age groups:

U9F – 1 more runners

U10F – 2 more runners (or 2 u9 girls will be promoted)

U14F – 2 more runners

U12M – 1 more runners

U13M – 2 more runners

U14M – 2 more runners (or U13B will be promoted)

Dear Members,

The Annual General meeting (AGM) is an important event for our club.  It gives members and the committee a broad overview of the organization’s current directions, financial health and confirms our purpose.  It is also a great time to revitalize through the official engagement of members, new and current into key elected positions

The traditional format of AGM’s often involves a number of members meeting in a physical location and voting on a show of hands.  This location was our club room’s, however, our clubrooms are being utilized at present and a capacity limit in place.

To that end, we have decided to hold a hybrid AGM and Presentation to be held at 11:00am, 1st of May 2021 over Zoom.  The hybrid part is that we will be broadcasting from the clubrooms and presenting the major trophies throughout the AGM.

All other awards will be presented after the AGM, by age group out on the track as we have done previously.  Athletes will be advised of when their presentations times are and will be invited to arrive with their fellow team mates to be presented their trophies and awards in persons. We will have a jumping castle for those waiting for their trophies and/or medals.

This therefore allows all members to attend and participate in this meeting from their homes and or at the track where required.  The business to be transacted at a virtual meeting will be the same business that is transacted at a traditional AGM just in a virtual format.

Zoom details to be provided in due course.

Essentially, standard AGM rules however still apply.  If the requisite number of members fail to attend a meeting, there will be no quorum so no business can be transacted.

The AGM can still be a positive experience for all of us we all go away firmly committed to the club and our goals.
