Cross Country

What’s Cross Country?

Cross Country (XC) is our Winter Athletics season. We run and race on all types of tracks … through puddles, mud and open grass and in all weather conditions.

Through Cross Country we join forces with Berwick and Pakenham for our weekly competitons. Our weekly runs are either at Casey Fields, Edwin Flack Reserve or Toomuc Reserve.

We encourage all abilities and reward PB’s (personal bests). It’s not just how fast you run, it’s how much you can improve.

Each Saturday we will run events with the approximate distances:

Under 6                                      500m

Under 7 to Under 8                   1000m

Under 9 to Under 10                 1500m

Under 11 to Under 12               2000m

Under 13 to Under 17               3000m

Why:

  • Improve your fitness or build fitness for other sports
  • Be outdoors in winter, away from the computer / TV / ipad / phone screens
  • Be with your friends and create new friends
  • To be healthy, create good habits and improve yourself
  • Training for Little Athletics Championships or School events
  • Park run is too long or doesn’t offer enough variety
  • Or just because you love running and being active!

How much:

  • Registered athletes for the summer season are already included in the annual membership.
  • New members, only $80.00 – covers all our costs of running the season, and insurance.
  • A small fee applies to those entering Region/State events or Open days and the end-of-season trophies.
