Cranbourne Little Athletics is a community-based, volunteer-run organisation.

Behind every Saturday competition, training session, championship entry, piece of equipment, social media post, registration and Centre event is a group of volunteers giving their time to help provide the best possible experience for our athletes and families.

Our Committee oversees the day-to-day operation, governance and future direction of Cranbourne Little Athletics while helping ensure the Centre remains safe, welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

General Committee

Our General Committee supports the Executive Committee across the many different areas required to operate Cranbourne Little Athletics.

Each Manager takes responsibility for a particular area of the Centre, helping ensure our competition, coaching, events, equipment, results, communications and member services operate effectively throughout the season.

What Does Each Committee Role Do?

There is a lot that happens behind the scenes at Cranbourne Little Athletics.

Each Committee portfolio has its own responsibilities, with members working together throughout the season to keep the Centre operating smoothly.

Committee Position Roles & Responsibilities

President & Vice President
The President and Vice President provide leadership across Cranbourne Little Athletics and oversee the work of the Committee. They chair meetings, help set agendas, oversee governance and compliance, liaise with LAVic, Gippsland Country Region and other organisations, and support Committee members in delivering their portfolios. They also manage formal complaints and disciplinary matters where required. Responsibilities include: Chairing Committee and General Meetings Preparing and setting meeting agendas Overseeing Centre governance and compliance Sharing oversight of Committee portfolios and responsibilities Liaising with Little Athletics Victoria, Gippsland Country Region, other Centres and external organisations Managing formal complaints and disciplinary matters where required Supporting Committee members in the delivery of their roles
Secretary
The Secretary manages the Centre’s formal administration and communication. This includes correspondence with members, council, LAVic, other Centres and external organisations, as well as managing affiliation and administrative requirements. The Secretary also prepares meeting documentation and records minutes of Committee meetings.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial management of Cranbourne Little Athletics. This includes overseeing day-to-day finances, processing payments and purchases, maintaining financial records and preparing reports for Committee meetings. The Treasurer also assists with annual financial reporting and auditing requirements.
Registrar
The Registrar manages athlete registrations, trial memberships and membership enquiries throughout the season. They support new and returning families through the registration process, maintain membership information and coordinate communication with prospective and trial athletes. The Registrar also manages enquiries received through the Centre mobile.
Coaching Manager
The Coaching Manager oversees the Centre’s training and coaching program. They coordinate training sessions, manage the coaching structure, support volunteer coaches and help provide opportunities across different events and age groups. They also coordinate relay training in the lead-up to Region and State Relays.
Operations & Competition Manager
The Operations & Competition Manager oversees the delivery of weekly Cranbourne competition. They coordinate officials, Age Group Team Leaders, parent helpers and Parent Duty requirements, while helping ensure competition is run safely and efficiently. They also oversee track operations and support the smooth running of each competition program.
Grants Manager
The Grants Manager identifies funding opportunities that can help improve Cranbourne Little Athletics. They research suitable grants, prepare applications and work with the Committee to seek funding for equipment, facilities, programs and other Centre initiatives.
Sponsorship Manager
The Sponsorship Manager looks after Cranbourne Little Athletics’ relationships with sponsors, partners and regular external providers. They maintain existing partnerships, identify potential new sponsors and coordinate opportunities for businesses to support the Centre. The role also helps manage regular visitors such as food trucks and coffee vans.
Program Manager
The Program Manager prepares and oversees the Centre’s Track & Field competition program. They develop the seasonal program, prepare weekly events, coordinate announcers and manage the program on competition days. The role also includes entering the weekly event schedule into ResultsHQ and making adjustments where required.
Canteen Manager
The Canteen Manager oversees the operation of the CLAC canteen. They manage stock, ordering, cleaning, staffing and the general operation of the canteen on competition days. The role also includes coordinating food premises requirements, permits and inspections.
Cross Country Manager
The Cross Country Manager coordinates Cranbourne’s involvement in the winter Cross Country season. They help manage courses hosted by CLAC, organise setup, pack-up and course duties, and coordinate Team Managers for Region and State Cross Country events. They also assist with communication and the overall running of Cross Country competition.
Grounds & Equipment Manager
The Grounds & Equipment Manager helps ensure Casey Fields and all CLAC equipment are safe and ready for competition. They oversee equipment maintenance, storage, purchasing, setup and pack-up, while also monitoring the condition of competition areas. The role includes conducting seasonal equipment stocktakes and maintaining equipment records.
Results Manager
The Results Manager oversees the recording and management of athlete results throughout the season. They coordinate weekly ResultsHQ entry, respond to results enquiries and oversee Centre Record updates. The role also includes managing the timing gates and helping train and coordinate gate operators.
Region & State Manager
The Region & State Manager coordinates Cranbourne’s involvement in major LAVic championship events. They organise Team Managers, oversee duty requirements and communicate important Region and State information to athletes and families. They also assist with questions relating to championship entries, duties and event-day requirements.
Special Events Manager
The Special Events Manager coordinates activities outside the Centre’s regular weekly competition program. This can include Presentation events, fundraisers, Christmas celebrations, end-of-season activities, Committee thank-you events and other special occasions. The role helps ensure these events are organised, promoted and delivered successfully.
Merchandise Manager
The Merchandise Manager oversees the Centre’s uniform and merchandise operations. They manage the uniform shop, stock levels, ordering, special requests and regular stocktakes. They also liaise with suppliers regarding new products, design changes and other merchandise requirements.
Child Protection Manager
The Child Protection Manager oversees the Centre’s child safety and protection responsibilities. They help ensure CLAC remains compliant with current child-safe requirements, communicate important updates to members and ensure relevant policies and procedures are followed. They also coordinate and support Child Protection Officers throughout the season.
Media Manager
The Media Manager oversees CLAC’s website, social media, branding and digital communications. The role includes creating yearly graphic templates, producing promotional and event content, keeping the website updated, managing important Centre announcements and helping showcase the achievements of our athletes, volunteers and sponsors. The Media Manager also maintains CLAC’s digital presence throughout the season.

More Than Just the Committee

It takes far more than our Executive and Committee Managers to run Cranbourne Little Athletics.

Throughout the season, a much larger team of volunteers assists with competition, coaching, results, equipment, championships, events and athlete management.

These roles provide vital support to our Committee and allow people to become involved without necessarily taking on responsibility for an entire portfolio.

Cranbourne Little Athletics simply could not operate without volunteers.

The people you see organising competition, coaching athletes, entering results, maintaining equipment, running events, answering questions and communicating information are giving their own time to support our athletes and families.

Some volunteers have been involved in Little Athletics for many years. Others started simply because their child joined and they decided to lend a hand.

You don't need to be an athletics expert to get involved.

Everyone has skills that can contribute to the Centre.
